  • Easter Sunday April 4

We will have more time in the New Year to replace the Wednesday that runs out in December. Days and times to follow once the Kinsmen can finalize the New Year.

South Soccer Centre

Tentatively set up for Sundays at 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, however we are waiting for the ESA bookings department to finalize the sessions, as they are required to wait until all league schedules are placed.

We would also like to still go outside as long as we can, but this will depend on your commitment to attend! A day would be chosen…but more than likely it would be Saturdays at our same time as now.

Germany Process

As the majority of you have joined our CEFA for the Unique Process we have set up with our German Counterparts, we do need to remind everyone of what we look at in a player as well as what it is going to take from you, the player, to be told that you are ready to make that desired trip to Munich.

Everyone in the Academy DOES have the opportunity to go to Germany. When you go, has to do with the following guidelines we have established. We will try and relate them to you as best we can, in hopes you understand the whole process.

Self Discipline: This is probably the most important point we need to make. While we watch players in the Academy perform on the field each and every week, we sometimes ask ourselves, how much better would that player be if he had more self discipline? Self Discipline for us comes in 2 parts. The 1st part is what are you, and can you do on your off time to help improve your fitness, ball skills and game sense. The indoor season is hard for our players because we can only offer you so many hours. You get 3-5 hrs per week of extra training plus the games you may play for your Club teams. In Outdoor you will receive 5 to 8 hours per week. The extra training you receive does show its benefits big time…..but …..what if you could add a couple more hours per week on your own? Would it help? The answer is unequivocally YES!

The 2nd part of self discipline has to do with, what are you doing during your down time?

This of course refers to how are you treating your body? Drinking, Drugs……little or no sleep……poor eating habits…..and the list can go on. We watch for this in our players as it shows up quickly in any of our sessions. You want the opportunity we can give you……now its up to you to show you really want it.

Skills: In order to realistically go to Germany it is obvious you will need your skills up to a high level. For the most part everyone involved in the Academy already has advanced skills. We now need to fine-tune the skills you already have and give you a few more. In order to do that you need to come to the sessions with a mindset that you are going to give 110% each and every session. If you do that…… the natural process of becoming even better will of course occur. Stay focused on what you need to do and if you have some weak spots and need extra work on that particular skill….then please don’t hesitate to ask for extra help.

Fitness: As you all know a soccer player is ranked as one of the most well rounded and fittest athletes in the world. Where is your fitness level? Is it at the Bundesliga level? The answer is no….not yet….but it will be. Be in the best shape you can be so we have no reservations about sending you to Germany. The German coaches want our athletes at a very high fitness and skill level when they arrive. They will then take you to another level, as you will be receiving around 28 hours per week of soccer training there. You will also get a personal fitness trainer in Munich for the first 2 months. They will design a program based on your bodies needs as well as a Nutrition program designed for you specifically.

Attendance: This is one of the most annoying aspects we have with some of you. You pay to attend our Academy…..but you fail to show up on a regular basis? This makes no sense and it boils down to Self Discipline again. If your serious……Show UP! And be on time. You also need to be with Academy for a minimum of 3 months. This gives us the opportunity to see who you really are as a player and a person.

Monetary Situation: All fees need to be paid on a regular basis. This means by the 10th of every month your payments need to be in. If we are looking at sending a player to Germany and that player has outstanding fees owing…..well that player will be bypassed in our selection process. As well….. Germany has a price tag attached to it….so you also need to be prepared for the costs involved.

REMEMBER….you are doing this for you and you alone!

Team Player: This is a big part of out Academy. We want to have good sessions, where you work hard….but still enjoy yourselves. It is important that all of you get along with everyone…..Coaches, players, facility workers and parents. If you cannot adhere to this then we will ask you to leave. We watch this quite closely, as it is a big priority for us. We feel if you can’t work well here in Canada with the current players involved then why would we send you to Germany to disrupt the group over there? It won’t happen.

Attitude: Your attitude will help dictate whether you make the trip or not. While there is absolutely no guarantee that you will make it in Europe….you do have the opportunity to find out if you have what it takes. Remember……it will take a lot of hard work and dedication…….plus….it will involve some luck. Be patient and bring everything you have to the table.

The future looks bright and we in CEFA know that some of you will make it in Europe. Which ones they will be is anyone guess. It all starts when you look in the mirror each morning and decide for yourself…..It’s going to be you!
